Magic and Mana

Mana

Life force is your mana. Using all of it can kill you but you don't die since you faint before it reaches zero. Ofc your spirit can recover with some rest so it regenerates just like friggin mana in games.

Typically mages use the surrounding energy before you resort to using your life energy/force.

Though you may be unable to tap into that mana if your mana lacks compatibility with the mana domain.

Your spirit can get stronger so it is possible to increase your mana supply. Though due to the previous statement, most all-out battles take place in the Void Between, an endless space of infinitive energy as well as nothingness.

Mana Domains

The way energy, or mana, responds or interacts with objects or beings in a world may differ across worlds. It is unpredictable and everchanging, after all.

These differences generate mana domains that may weaken or nullify the magic of visitors who come from a world where the energy, or mana, is fundamentally different in how it interacts. This limitation is placed upon them because their spirits have adapted to their previous world's energies, thus disabling them drawing on the surrounding mana from worlds that are vastly different from their previous.

As a result, some worlds may reject incompatible magicians' attempts to enter completely. However, there are a few who are capable of entering these worlds and using its mana regardless of compatibility. Most ancient primordials are prime examples and those of them who can are considered to have Ancient Access to all worlds.

Though, unlike worlds, the Void is the one place where it never matters what your magic is like. For here, energy is always present in endless amounts and in its purest, most flexible state.

Magic

A Spirit's Affinity

Magic is simply the manipulation of energy. One's spirit (mind, will, and emotion) plays a key role in the process of channeling and how it is channeled.

A spirit's natural strength determines whether or not they have an affinity for magic at all.

For one to wield magic, one must have the intellect to understand both reality and magic alike (The Mind). One must have the desire to bring forth and command their magic (The Emotion). And lastly, but certainly not least, one must have the WILLPOWER to WILL their imaginations, their lies, unto and into reality.

The Elements

There are 10 Universal Elements. Fire, Water, Nature, Wind, Earth, Electricity, Darkness, Light, Time, Space.

In some worlds, these may be referred to as different terms. But typically these 10 elements exist in almost every world in some shape or form.

Typically, most beings are capable of tapping into all of the elements. But some fall short so they only end up using one or two.

The Arts

The most common use of magic is the art of channeling. As you may be aware, many magicians have a consistent flow of magic throughout their bodies. A natural channeling that is like a second nature or sixth sense. This channeling tends to give them abilities like super speed, super strength, super senses, and other vessel-related enhancements.

There is also the art that some may call emission. But this art often comes in the form of offensive spells like shooting fireballs or unleashing bolts of lightning. Typical stuff.

Then there's conversion. The art of turning one thing into another. Also known as alchemy. Usually, users of this art is very rare. And masters of it are even rarer, most of which don't even reside in worlds as we've previously mentioned with the introduction of Creation Lords.

From these elements and these arts, there are an infinite number of abilities.

Advanced abilities often derive from a combination of two or all of these arts.

They may include being able to accelerate objects, creating gates from one place to another, or even controlling technology.

The most powerful magic users may even be able to alter reality itself. What dangerously massive power!

The Types (Ways of Usage)

There are many types of magic alongside the arts and the elements.

These types can generally be seen as subcategories under each art. Though they're typically the same thing and may overlap in more advanced usages, there are the common basic types of usage.

Types of Emission magic includes Projectile Magic, Explosive Magic, Pulse Magic, and Illusion Magic.

Projectile magic is the emission of mana in the form of projectiles.

Explosion magic is the emission of mana in the form of bursts or explosions.

Pulse magic is the emission of mana in the form of beams.

Illusion magic is the emission of mana in the form of an ethereal image. It is often first channeled into the surrounding area.

Types of Channeling magic includes Enhancement Magic.

Enhancement magic is the channeling of mana to enhance physical abilities or the durability and strength of objects.

Other uses of magic that are fairly common but also more advanced include Alteration Magic, Magic Traps, and Spell Channeling.

Extremely advanced magic is often cast through an incantation.

Spellcasting: Incantations

First, to put it in words even a child can understand: incantations are "magic words".

But next, a detailed explanation.

Incantations are phrases which allows the caster to unleash a specific sequence of mana channeling, emission, and/or alchemy. These sequences are what are often referred to as "spells" in which a magic user casts, bringing it forth into the world.

These phrases not only refreshes their memory of the sequence of magic art applications but also helps further express their imaginations, their deception of the world, unto and into reality.

Incantations have many variations. For example, some incantations may even be done in repetition, like a chant, and with a group to perform a ceremonial ritual. Others may be of very few words, perhaps even just one, like a mantra or in worlds without magic, a triggerword that may calm your nerves.

Though, in the end, incantations are simply a tool used by some magicians for spellcasting. It does not have any other effects.

As such, some may even make up an incantation for a new spell to make it sound cool when they use it.

Ah, the eccentricities of some of the mages out there. How amusing, indeed.

The Steps

There are two key steps in learning to use magic.

The first step is being able to feel the mana, the energy flowing throughout your body.

The second step is just as important when using magic, especially emission magic.

It is imagery. The ability to clearly picture the spell in your mind.

Your intelligence can play a key role in this as imagining each step makes casting easier and makes the spell more powerful.

One then must concentrate on that image and will it into the world.

When using magic, one deceives the world.

As such, it is important that the caster believes wholeheartedly that it is possible.

They must have faith as well as a strong desire.

If the caster is unable to achieve these goals, it is likely they'll never be able to do it. For one who gives up so easily shouldn't be using magic in the first place even if they can.

Worlds Without Magic?

As not all beings can fully use magic or use it at all, there are worlds where magic comes in the form of simple lies and deception.

Not all worlds receive the gift of the void's endless energy as much as others do.

As magic can be seen as one lying to themselves and willing their lies into reality, magic tricks are not far from true magic at all.

Though, any magic user would probably hate being in such worlds. Worlds where magic is miniscule. But in these worlds, magic still exists but often in a different form. Instead of using a spiritual base, these worlds use a more direct approach in using the laws of their worlds to their advantage with tools and inventions. This is science. It's science. Not much else to say.

Although machinery may never hope to fully tap into the infinite potential of one's spirit, it does often help those who lack magic capability.
